Advanced Comfort Measures

A hands-on workshop for pregnant people and their partners — where comfort techniques stop being something you read about and start being something your hands already know.

Saturday, August 22 · 1:00–5:00 PM · The Aux, Evanston

Save your spot — $97 per couple

Birth is not the moment to be reading instructions.

When labor gets intense, nobody wants to think. They want to reach — for the right pressure, the right position, the right hand in the right place. That only happens if the body already knows what to do.

So we practice. For four hours, together, in a room with mats and balls and other couples doing the same thing. You'll leave with techniques that live in your muscle memory instead of in a folder you meant to read.

What we'll do together

Counter-pressure that actually works

Hips, sacrum, low back. Where to press, how hard, and how to keep doing it for an hour without wrecking your hands.

Positions that keep labor moving

Movement and positioning that help baby rotate and descend, and what to try when things stall.

Simple tools, already in your house

Rebozo, birth ball, a doorway, a stack of pillows. No shopping list required.

The partner's job

Breath, touch, voice, and presence. How one steady person changes the whole room.

Rest and reset

What to do in the long quiet stretches so you both still have something left when it counts.

A sequence you'll remember

You'll leave with a short, ordered go-to list you can both run from memory at 3 a.m.

Who should come

Pregnant people and their birth partner — spouse, partner, friend, mom, sister, whoever is going to be in the room with you. Any stage of pregnancy is welcome; third trimester is the sweet spot.

No experience needed. No fitness level required. You'll be standing, leaning, kneeling, and laughing more than you expect.
